Hey guys!

Thank you so so much for looking at my page! We're a week in and everyone has been so generous. So I thank you for that! But- We are no where close to our goal of $50,000 so we have to keep pushing. You know that $5 bill you found laying on the ground? How good would you feel after donating it to an amazing cause? I know I would feel pretty awesome.

I was walking around Golden, trying to spread the word about my campaign, and I met this really amazing lady who had a son who fought and beat Leukemia when he was 9 years old. In this campaign, I never knew who I would talk too, and what their stories were, but for each person who has chosen to share their story with me, I thank you, and I encourage you to keep sharing! I love being able to connect with you in this way.

So once again, thank you! And please, spread the word about my campaign to others!

10 Hours Till Kick Off!!

Jan 06, 2021

Hi Everyone!

I appreciate you looking at my page, and reading this post. But holy cow! 10 hours till kick off! My team mates and I have worked so hard, and have put so much effort into raising money for this amazing cause. And whew! It has been an adventure! So, for starters I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for looking at this, and supporting me in this journey, I have learned so much.

You know, when I walked into this, I thought how the heck am I going to raise all of this money? How does one person, a 17 year old high school Junior raise $50,000 for charity? How does one do this? But really, no one can do this alone, I have had a whirlwind of support, and even though we haven't officially started yet, I already feel like a winner. So I thank you, and everyone else for that.

This experience makes everyone feel like a winner. I have gained so many great communication skills, and confidence through this campaign. But absolutely, the most rewarding thing about this, will be in 7 weeks, when our grand total of all the candidates fundraising efforts is flashed upon a screen, with that big number going straight to charity. That is going to be the real victory. Knowing that we have made a change.

So I ask you: Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to make a change for the better? Do you want to be apart of putting an end to cancer?

Thank you, and remember, even 5 dollars makes a difference.

Welcome to my Campaign!

Dec 14, 2020

Hi everyone! My name is Kaylyn Townsend and I have had the privelage of being nominated as a candidate for the 2021 Student of the Year Campaign through my mentor, and very close friend, Devyn Shaefer (2019 nominee). I would just like to introduce you to my page, about me, and why I am participating in this amazing campaign.

I attend Golden High School as a Junior, and I am 17 years old. One of my many passions in life is playing soccer. I've played soccer since I was 5, and have played competitvely since I was 11. Soccer has been a huge part of my life and it's morphed me into the person I am today. I also have been swimming since I was 6, and recently I have refound my passion for swimming which I am very, very grateful for that.

Lately, as I've been diving deeper into this campaign, I've really thought about why I'm doing this: I'm doing this for Jalen. Jalen is our honored hero, and he's just such an articulate, strong little boy and I admire him so much for being able to push through his blood cancer, and being strong enough to talk about his struggles. He's amazing, and I hate the thought of people like Jalen who suffer with blood cancers, and other cancers, and really truly, I want to say that I've been apart of helping to end this terrible disease.

So, I would just like to say, thank you for reading my page, and even being here! Every dollar helps, and now you can say that you've put an end to blood cancer too.

Kaylyn's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Welcome To My Fundraising Page.

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
